My sister and I recently painted her fi...Hi Nancy! My sister and I recently painted her fireplace -- just the opposite colors. First it was black -- we then crackled red paint over it. It is fantastic!! I say, go for it! I'm sure it will look wonderful. As far as the animal hair -- if your house is like mine, animal hair is part of the decor! But my DR, which is all black, does not show it anymore than the other pieces in the house.
